bobbinweave is a small fiber art and textile business located in Philadelphia and created by Sara Gatti. bobbinweave strives to create unique items from local, natural, and repurposed materials, using scraps and discard materials as well. In doing so, we aim to have a small carbon footprint and contribute to a sustainable future in our own small way.
Sara learned to knit at 12 years old when her aunt decided to take up a new hobby. She knit off and on for years, but got more serious about it in college when she took a fibers course and reignited her love for the art. Post college, Sara began weaving. She first wove on her own handmade loom, then acquired looms of all sizes and began teaching an introductory tapestry weaving course in 2016. Sara now has lap looms, table looms, and a rigid heddle loom which she uses to make wall hangings, pillows, apparel, and other items in addition to her one-of-a-kind knitwear.
